WOMEN'S TRACK: Scott SEC's Best of Week

University of Florida senior All-American Candice Scott (Port of Spain, Trinidad) has been named Southeastern Conference Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

It is Scott's second honor this year and the fourth for Florida throwers this season. No other school in the conference has claimed the honor this year.

This past weekend Scott finished second to world record holder and former Gator Erin Gilreath with an NCAA automatic qualifying toss of 23.47m/77-0 in the weight throw at the 98th annual Millrose Games in New York on Feb. 4. Scott came back on Sunday to post another automatic mark in the weight throw (23.44m/76-11.00) finishing second to Gilreath again at the Gator Invitational. Scott also recorded a provisional mark in the shot put on Sunday (16.86m/55-03.75) giving her two NCAA automatic marks and one provisional mark in a three day span.

Scott and the rest of the Gators return to action at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. on Saturday, Feb. 12.
