MEN'S TRACK: SEC honors Kerron Clement

After posting the second-fastest time in the world in 2005 in the 400m on Sunday at the Gator Invitational, University of Florida sophomore Kerron Clement (La Porte, Texas) was named the Southeastern Conference Track Athlete of the Week as announced Tuesday.

Clement's time of 46.13 was a personal best, an NCAA automatic time and it ranks third in Florida history. Clement also posted a provisional in the prelims of the 55m hurdles (7.30) and he ran the anchor leg of Florida's winning 4x400m relay team that posted a provisional time of 3:09.66. Clement has participated in nine individual races in 2005 and two relays and has posted at least an NCAA provisional time in all but one of his individual races and both relays. He's currently ranked in the top 10 in the collegiate ranks in three events (60m hurdles, 200m and 400m) and is also a member of the current No. 1 4x400m relay team in the nation.

The Gators return to action this weekend when number seven Florida travels to Ames, Iowa for the Iowa State Classic Feb. 11-12.
