Next in the ranks for UF was freshman CJ Kim (Rowland Heights, Calif.). Kim completed play in round one with a 75. Thirteen of her 18 holes played today went for even or one under par. Kim is currently sitting in a tie for 19th place. Sandra Gal (Leichlingen, Germany) carded a 76 for her first round of the Northrop Grumman. With just five strokes over par, the freshman is in a tie for 29th place in the tournament.
Teammates Eleanor Tucker (Wilson, N.C.) and Andrea Vander Lende (Longwood) are sitting in a tie for 41st place after posting an initial 18 round of 77 apiece. For her first 14 holes of the day, Vander Lende held herself to a continuous total tally of just three over par, but ended the first round of 18 six strokes over. Tucker is competing as an individual in this year's Northrop Grumman.
And bringing up the tail end of the starting five for the Lady Gators was freshman Whitney Myers (East Berlin, Penn.) who ended her first round with an 84. Myers began her day with a double bogey on hole 10. The freshman was then able to steady herself for three holes, but then began to play hot and cold as she bogeyed and nailed a one under par round.
Tomorrow is a new day for the Lady Gators as the team will head out to the Palos Verdes Golf Course for round two of the three-day Northrop Grumman Regional. Teams will tee off between 9 and 11 a.m. Results from the competition are live and can be found at www.golfstat.com or by visiting the GatorZone website.
