Coach Buddy Nobles at Union County has big plans for his all-star caliber player. "He is a great kid," he said. "We are going to play him some at wing back and at wide receiver. He can catch the ball. (On defense) he can cover and he can hit. He has great explosion. He has arms of a seven-footer. Our outside linebacker is like a hybrid strong safety / defensive end. He can play up on the line or he can play back in coverage. He uses his arms well and keeps his leverage."
Alexander is already a legit 6-3 and looks to grow taller. He plans on playing outside linebacker in college and wants to also apply heat to the quarterback. "I will be an outside linebacker'" he said. " I like to hit. I am more like a Jevon Kearse type of linebacker, because I like to get after the quarterback. I didn't rush the passer a lot last year but I will rush more this year."
His favorite college player of all time was also a pass rushing specialist. Kevin's favorite, Alex Brown, was a linebacker that grew into a defensive end for the Florida Gators and finished with the most sacks in one season as a Gator.
Alexander has received early attention from a lot of prominent schools. "I am getting letters from all of the Florida schools, Georgia, Iowa, Notre Dame, that's about it."
He has two clear favorites at the moment. "Florida and Miami are my early favorites right now."
A good student, Alexander already is planning on a major and career after football. "I want to major in sports management or sports journalism," he said. "I want to be a sportscaster or something like that."
Kevin Alexander is a hard hitting linebacker that most coaches would list at 6-4 or more. He is a legit 6-3 and a solid 216, but will get stronger. Watching his game film, he can really fly to the ball and has a body type to contribute at many different positions. Coach Nobles plans to do just that on his talented Union County team.
