SPRING: Q and A with Kyle Jackson

Gator Country had a chance to sit and talk with Kyle Jackson to get his thoughts on spring practice, the secondary and receivers....

PUBLISHER'S NOTE: Gator Country's legendary Spring Practice coverage will be free through the weekend so you can see through the hype why everyone comes here for the very best in practice coverage. Unlike the others, we don't brag about it - we deliver!

On spring kicking off..

"Yesterday it was a little shaky because it has been awhile since I've been out here, but basically it's fun to get back in this. I can't express how much I like being part of this team and my first year here was something special to me."

On his personal off season focus…

"Both mentally and physically, I'm still learning. We were kind of worrying about a new coaching staff bring in new plays, but actually, they did a great thing by keeping old plays that we run so it kind of helped us out as a defense. Of course physically, I wanted to get bigger and faster so I'm at 195 lbs right now."

When did the lights go on last year…

"Probably the South Carolina game. I had two pick's and I started feeling like I'm in high school again. I hope to have that feeling again real soon this year."

On putting on the pads tomorrow morning…

"It's not football if you're not getting contact and me personally, I love to hit. I really can't wait and I get that feeling from everyone out here on defense too."

On the development of the secondary so far…

"I think it's going great and the only thing that we can do is go up, because it's not going down. We got Dee Webb at one corner, Vernell at the other projected and me and Jarvis at safety and Holliday is out there and he is pushing me. Right now they have me projected to start, but truthfully me and Hot [Tamale] are battling it out and he's a great player."

On the receivers they've covered…

"They've gotten a lot better and I definitely should stress that. The young one Mike McIntosh red shirted and he's looking real good. Of course Andre, Dallas, Chad, Jemalle are all great threats that always give us a challenge."
