SPRING: Q and A with Skyler Thornton

Skyler Thornton spoke with Gator Country after today's scrimmage, giving his thoughts on the offense so far, on the challenge without Fason, running with the first team, and more...

On the offense so far…

"I like the offense so far and it's a good offense that Coach Meyer brought in. Once we get it all down pat, it's going to be a show for the Gators next year."

On running with the first team…

"I feel good and real confident coming off the last couple games last year. I just think I'm real comfortable and I just have to do what I have to do to win games."

On there being less of a challenge with Ciatrick Fason gone…

"No not really. I still go hard, last year I went hard and every year I've gone hard, but it's a little more exciting."

On his late season performance last year…

"It was a real big confidence booster, because that showed me that I can go out there and play with some of the best people in the nation."

On the offense scrimmage…

"It's more high speed out there, but I guess [Meyer] just wanted to make sure that we had the offense down pat and that we had learned the plays and knew what was going on."

Esteban's Take: Wynn's the bruiser and Manson's the burner, but in Skyler Thornton the Gators find themselves with a perfectly balanced back with a whole lot of potential coming out of the back field. In today's scrimmage, Thornton had one of the best moves of the day for the running backs side stepping between two defenders en route to a big gain. Steadily improving as the spring goes on, Thornton will be a factor for Meyer's speed oriented offense and running game.
