Last season, Baldwin finished on the 2nd-Team All-Dade County. Not to be outdone with what he accomplished on the football field, Baldwin landed on the 1st-Team All-State in wrestling. He does very well in the weight room with a 315 bench and 405 pound squat.
When Scout.com spoke with Baldwin he mentioned to us about what stands out most with his play on the field, "I read plays quickly. Last year I had five interceptions and that came from knowing where the football was going. I also have a coach that has worked with guys like Antrel Rolle and Marcus Hudson. Those two have also come back this year and worked we me as well."
One trait that all the great cornerbacks that have come out of Dade County in the past ten years is they all seem to be very confident on the football field. With Baldwin he fits that very same mold. We asked Baldwin what it is about Dade County defensive backs and why they seem to be so confident.
"When I get on the field I want to hit someone. My physical play is intimidating to opposing offenses. I like to talk on the football field. While I don't want to hurt someone I make sure that when there is a big hit by me the other players knows that is how it will be all game long. I tell receivers all the time that they better get ready because I will lower the boom."
With recruiting just heating up, Baldwin mentioned to us what teams lead for his services, "Miami, Florida State, Florida, NC State and Auburn, I like all of those teams and right now its wide open. Whichever team gives me the best shot at seeing the field early will most likely be where I end up. I will look at the depth chart and see where I stand as far as early playing time goes."
What will be the deciding factor on his college choice, "I will go where I feel most comfortable at? I have a lot of pressure to stay home from all my friends, my dad told me to go where I want to go and not anyone else."
We asked Baldwin what he is looking forward the most this year, "I am most excited about our spring game. Last year Coral Gables beat us in the spring and then we ran the table during the season. I want to go out and beat them this year. I am also ready to strap it on and hit someone."
