For Jarred Fayson, one of the highlights was getting to know Coach Urban Meyer and his staff. The atmosphere that the coaches presented was impressive.
"We had a great time and was real family oriented," Fayson said. "The Gator coaches did a great job of really bringing everybody together and the coaching staff is real close knit, so I like that a lot."
Fayson is being recruited by running backs Coach Stan Drayton who covers the Tampa area for the Gators. It is obvious that there is a connection between the coach and athlete.
"Coach Drayton … I like him a lot," said Fayson. "I relate to him very well … me and him have a special relationship. I relate to them all very well, but if I decide to come there he is a real reason why. We understand each other very well."
Another highlight was spending time with Gator football players. Fayson is a quarterback so obviously he enjoyed the time he spent with Florida starter Chris Leak.
"I ate lunch with Leak," he said. "I went on a boat ride with Chad Jackson and some other stuff. We toured the school and everywhere in the stadium. We toured the presidential section ... it was real nice."
The Gators have four scholarship quarterbacks on the roster already and a commitment from Jevan Snead, the top rated quarterback out of Texas. In addition to Fayson, the Gators are also recruiting Tebow (Ponte Vedra Beach Nease), another of the top high school quarterbacks in the nation. Fayson says that he's not fazed by all the competition.
"It doesn't matter, there is competition every where," said Fayson. "Tebow is a very pleasant guy so I wouldn't mind being around Tebow at all. I like him a lot."
Fayson has offers from Division I schools from every conference in the nation, but he's already started narrowing down the choices.
"Florida is definitely number one, then comes Miami and I like Oklahoma," he said. "My top two are still Florida and Miami."
Although he knows the schools he likes, he's not going to make a choice for awhile.
"I might make it to signing day, or if I make it to the All-American game I might do it there," he said.
REDMAN REACTION: Jarred Fayson remains very interested in the Gators and the Gators are equally interested in landing this fast, strong-armed quarterback. Fayson doesn't have the great size, but he has speed, running ability and there is no doubt he's got a Division I arm.
