"I committed to Florida Yesterday," said Corey Hobbs. "I've known for a while that's where I wanted to go, but I wanted to make sure I made the right decision. I actually committed to Florida three weeks ago, but I kept it a secret, so I could surprise my dad on Father's Day. I called Coach Meyer, and Coach Meyer told my dad. He was amazed and didn't know what to say," added Hobbs with a laugh.
Hobbs is a member of the South
Hot 100 as an offensive lineman, but he could star on either side of the
ball. The Gators are wanting him to come in on defense.
"They've been recruiting me to play the three technique at defensive
tackle. That's what Coach Mattison has told me about coming in. I think Florida
is the best choice for me. I'm real excited about seeing them this year. They're
on the rise, and I want to win a National Championship. I think with Coach
Meyer, Coach Mattison, and the rest of the staff they can do that. I love
Florida, and my whole family is behind me on this one."
Hobbs left little doubt about how firm his commitment is to Florida.
"I'm going to be at all of the home games this year. I'll take my official
visit for the Florida State or Tennessee game, because that will be two of their
