Profile 2003 - Marcus Clayton (CB)

Tallahassee has become a breeding ground for some big-time talent. Last season, Gavin Dickey and Pat Watkins led the way. This year is another great crop led by Ernie Simms and Antonio Cromartie. But they are not the only BIG-time blue-chippers. Marcus Clayton, from Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby, is this year's version on Leon Washington, only on defense.

Profle 2003 - Marcus Clayton (CB)
"Marcus Clayton shouldn't wear a number on his jersey," said Godby Head Coach Shelton Crews.  "He should wear the letter 'S" because he is Superman.  He is faster than a speeding bullet and can leap tall buildings in a single bound.  The kid is just awesome."

Clayton is small in height but he plays bigger than his size.  He has speed, strength and whole lot of heart.

"I love being aggressive out there," said Clayton.  "I am stronger than most wide receivers and I think that helps me make up from being a little smaller.  Plus, I have great speed to cover and great make up speed.  Playing against the bigger guys is a challenge and they bring out the best in me."

Clayton grew up in nearby Cairo, Georgia.  He moved to Tallahassee two years ago.

"I grew up an Auburn fan but right now my two favorite teams are Miami and LSU.  They are two great programs.  Miami won the National Championship and LSU won the SEC Championship.  Plus, they always have good secondaries.  I also like FSU, Florida and Auburn."

Clayton is also a special teams standout as a kick returner and he has a knack for blocking kicks.  He plans to attend the Nike Camp in Athens or Miami.  Clayton also wants to attend the football camps at LSU and Miami this summer.
