School Preferences - FSU leads Miami, Florida, LSU and Mississippi State
Profle 2003 - Landel Bembo (WR)
A very good wide receiver prospect from the Florida panhandle is Landel Bembo. Bembo, from Tallahassee Godby High School, is a big play receiver. Last season, he scored 9 touchdowns on 44 receptions.
"Bembo, as we call him, runs the best routes and has the best hands of anyone we have ever had," said Godby Head Coach Shelton Crews. "If you want to see a show, come watch Bembo and (Marcus) Clayton battle one-on-one in practice. It has all the ingredients of an Ali-Frazier heavyweight bout."
Clayton was profiled last week on BorderWars. He is one of the Sunshine State's top recruits and is a super cover corner. "Marcus has really helped me out a lot," said Bembo. "This is only my third year at Godby and when I got here, everyone told me he we take me to the wood shed. Marcus has pushed me around and made me work harder and I am much better for it. We are very close friends off the field. In a perfect world, we want to go to college together."
Currently, they have a lot of interest in the same schools but Bembo favors the hometown Seminoles at this point while Clayton favors LSU and Miami. "I would say Florida State is my number one choice and Miami is number two. LSU was the first school to send me a letter so I would put them number three. I also like the Gators and Mississippi State. I really want to stay in the South, preferably Florida."
Bembo, like Clayton, is small but has great speed, quickness and big
play capability as a receiver and on special teams. "When I get on
the field and it's me with the ball, I am going to do something with it."
