RECRUITING: John Brantley talks about FNL Camp

Ocala Trinity Catholic's John Brantley is expected to be the top junior quarterback in the state of Florida this season. He was one of only two juniors to attend the Friday Night Lights session at the University of Florida last night. The session proved to make quite an impression on the son of former Florida quarterback John Brantley IV.

"If every camp was like that, I'd go to a camp every week," the younger Brantley said. "I wasn't nervous. I enjoyed the atmosphere. It was exciting to compete against guys like that. I thrived on the competition."

John Brantley, Jr. directed Coach Kerwin Bell's offense as well as any sophomore could last season. He threw 17 touchdown passes and one interception for the Irish sharing time with senior Seth Varnadore. This season, Brantley will be in charge of pulling the trigger on the TC offensive attack without having to share time. The 6'3 180 gunner enjoyed sharing the spotlight with the top rising seniors in the country.

"Playing with Tim Tebow and Jarred Fayson really got my adrenaline pumping," he said. "Standing out there with those guys, you know that you're standing against the best in the southeast."

Brantley has taken several visits with his Dad this summer, but will take a couple of days off to spend some time at the lake with his family. He will take an unofficial visit to South Florida on Tuesday.
