Practice Report: 4/3/2002

UFI reports on how the Gators did in their second to last practice before the Orange and Blue Game on Saturday.

Practice today had a slight break in routine as the team went to the stadium at the halfway point to scrimmage a bit.

Before that it was business as usual with a scrimmage, then warmups and then some position drills. Tre Orr continues at CB while Larry Kendrick is at safety and Travis Harris at MLB.

After the usual drills the team made it's way over to the stadium and had a half scrimmage scrimmaged. The QB's had a pretty good day making some nice throws. Lester Norwood had the hit of the day, plowing Matt Jackson on a dropped pass. Ran Carthon broke a beautiful 80 yard run. He was brought down around the 10 by a hustling Todd Johnson. It was nice to see the defense not give up on the play. Ingle Martin looked sharp today, he is really making strides in his throwing.

Kelvin Kight and Carlos Perez were not in the top 3 recievers today. They were moved down to 2nd team with OJ Small and Reggie Vickers playing as the 2nd and 3rd WR's. Kight responded with a nice day included a juggling TD catch off a deflection. Perez didn't fare as well, dropping several catchable passes.

Clint Mitchell and David Jorgensen both continued to play after missing much of the spring with injuries.

Other than that there's really not much to report, with the exception of 3 key injuries. Mike Nattiel suffered and abdomen injury, Earnest Graham twisted an ankle and Ray Snell seemed to injure a knee. Non returned and their status for the Orange and Blue game is unknown. When Earnest  was asked if he was OK, he indicated he was fine.
