School Preferences - Miami leads FSU, Florida, Auburn
Profle 2003 - Eric Moncur (OLB/DE)
South Florida is a football factory when it comes to high school football prospects and this season will be no different, especially the city of Miami. One of the better defensive prospects for next season will be Eric Moncur. Moncur, from Miami (Fla.) Carol City, is an outside linebacker/ defensive end prospect. Last season as a junior, he recorded 80 tackles and 17 sacks.
"I think I will be a linebacker at the next level but it will depend on how much I grow," said Moncur. "I want to play linebacker. I like standing up. I am the type of player that is strong and quick. I love to rush the passer."
Moncur will actually play both defensive end and outside linebacker this season. Last year, in a playoff loss to Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard, he suffered a turf toe injury and it is still bothering him. In fact, he had to skip the baseball season this year because of the injury. In the meantime, he continues to prepare for his senior season and he hopes to participate in the upcoming Nike Camp in Coral Gables.
"Miami is my favorite team. They are winning again and it is just the home team for me. I also like FSU, Florida and Auburn. I want to go to a school that really teaches so they can make me a better player."
