"I don't have any interest in Texas anymore," said Williams, from Horn High School. "I liked them at first when they were recruiting me specifically as a running back, but now the coaches are telling me that they'd also like to see me at wide receiver or free safety--and I'm just not into that.
"From what I understand, they've got some commits there already at running back, and there's just no room for me at that position. I know that I want to play running back in college.
"I've decided to replace them with Michigan State instead. I haven't set up any official visits yet, but I know that I'm going to try and get out to Florida, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Texas A&M and now Michigan State," he said. "All those schools have offered me.
"I know that Michigan State likes to run the ball and they send me a lot of mail and stuff too. I know that T.J. Duckett, who plays for the Atlanta Falcons now, went there, and I read in an article somewhere where he said that Michigan State likes to run the ball and they use their running backs well.
"Florida has got a pretty big lead over these schools right now though. I've liked them since I was a kid playing Pop Warner and I've wanted to go there since I was a little kid. Right now, there's about an 85-90% chance that I'm going to end up there," he said.
"But I want to take all five of my official visits to see the different atmospheres of these schools and then really decide on a program. I'll probably be setting up all of my official visits sometime in November…right now I'm staying focused on the season.
"All of these schools are recruiting me pretty hard," Williams said.
Last Friday (8/26) Horn lost to Berkner High School 24-17 despite Williams' running for 187 yards and two TDs on 30 carries. Horn gets ready to face South Garland High School tomorrow (9/2).
