FOOTBALL: Siler Added to Lott Trophy Watch List

Newport Beach, Calif. - University of Florida sophomore linebacker Brandon Siler has been added to the Watch List for the Lott Trophy presented by The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation of Newport Beach, Calif. Siler, from Orlando, Fla., is the only sophomore on the list.

Brandon Siler has played in 16 career games for the Gators and has started 10. This season, he is tied with senior Vernell Brown for the team lead with 20 tackles, as he has recorded 11 solo and nine assisted efforts. He also leads the Gators with three quarterback hurries. In 2004, Siler became only the second true freshman in school history to lead the team in tackles with 77, a total that was the best among rookies in the SEC.

In its second year, The Lott Trophy honors the college football Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year. The student-athlete is judged on both his on-and-off field performances. The Lott Trophy is the first sports award based on personal character and is appropriately named after legendary defensive back Ronnie Lott. The Awards Banquet will be held at The Pacific Club located in Newport Beach, Calif., on Dec. 11, 2005.
