FIVE STARS: Murray Still Has Florida In Top 3

Only eight days ago there was a report on the network at one of it's team sites that five-star running back DeMarco Murray excluded the University of Florida from his list of favorite schools. Consider it a miscommunication. Murray, from Bishop O'Gorman in Las Vegas, wants to set the record straight.

"Oh yeah I am interested in Florida, 100 percent," said Murray, who listed three schools that clearly have his interest.

"Right now, I would probably say Florida, USC, and Oklahoma are my three favorites," he said. "I will visit Oklahoma for the Baylor game (Oct.ober 21) and will visit Florida for the Mississippi State game (October 7). I will probably visit USC after the season. I will make my decision at the US Army all-American game, if I am selected."

The 6-1, 185-pound Murray, who can run around defenders as well as through them, is on a break neck pace running the ball this year. He has carried the ball 40 times this year, averaging nearly 16 yards per carry (630 total yards). He's scored eight touchdowns already.

The recruiting process has become a matter of familiarity. The coaches who are recruiting him call regularly so he knows them quite well.

"All the coaches are having normal conversations with me right now," Murray said. "I have grown so attached with all these coaches. They tell me how they want to use me but all of them just want to know how well I am doing and family doing and stuff like that."

He has a lot to like with the main three schools. All are perennial powers with solid coaching staffs. All have worked hard to make a solid impression. He took some time to talk about the things he likes at his favorite schools.

FLORIDA: "I think Coach Urban Meyer is doing well. Everyone is playing hard and they are putting up points on the board. They are doing a great job right now and are catching my eye big time right now. I have seen a couple of their games on television. Florida hasn't told me how many running backs they want to sign. Florida has the best campus by far. They get hyped up and I would love playing in front of that crowd and stuff like that. The Florida people are all nice and kind, they are probably ahead of the other two schools (in this area) too. They welcome you with open arms. That is one of the other things I liked."

USC: "They are the number one team (in the country) right now. They are also putting up points. Reggie Bush is doing a great job. And I think they would use me the same way they use Reg, so I can play in the slot and stuff like that. I know they want to sign two running backs. Right now, USC's offense would be the best fit for me."

OKLAHOMA: "They told me they need to sign two running backs this year. I know they aren't doing too good right now and they are young team. I just have great relationship with the coaches and players. They have nowhere to go but up. I know Coach Stoops is going to turn that program around. They are just making a lot of mistakes right now."

Making the final choice will be determined by on the field success and finding a personal level of comfort when he makes his on-campus visits.

"Right now, I can't say relationship anymore, because I feel like I have a great relationship with all of three of the coaching staffs," he said. "It will come down to the outcome of the season and the team players and staff I feel most comfortable with.

DeMarco Murray is the kind of game-breaker that will fit well in any offense. The Florida Gators are hoping that they will prove to be the perfect fit when Murray pays his official visit on October 7.
