RECRUITING: Cunningham Nearly 100% Again

Jermaine Cunningham, the four-star defensive end from Stone Mountain (GA) Stephenson missed a game with an ankle injury this year but he's been working very hard to get back to full speed once again. When he's at full strength, this 6-4, 210-pounder with 4.7 speed is a terror for opposing quarterbacks.

"My ankle is about 100 percent," said Cunningham, who has three favorite schools but no official visits lined up yet.

"I'm planning on going to the Auburn-Alabama, Florida-Florida State, and Georgia-Tennessee games," he said.

Florida, Georgia and Auburn are the three schools that seem to have earned his trust. He says that he's looking at all three schools equally.

He's already visited Gainesville unofficially. One of the chief reasons he finds the University of Florida so appealing is that he likes the coaches.

"I like the coaching staff and the community," he said. "I also like the atmosphere it is pretty good down there. Coach (Urban) Meyer, (Greg) Mattison, and (Stan) Drayton are the guys I have been in contact with."

Cunningham did not attend the Florida-Tennessee game in person but he watched it on television.

"It was pretty exciting," he said. "It was a tough game for both teams but it seems Florida came out and finished first."

He commented about Auburn and Georgia:

AUBURN: "I have been in contact with defensive line coach there and I really like the accomplishments they had in the past couple of years."

GEORGIA: "I like the community and the coaching staff at UGA."

Cunningham lists the business program, football program and comfort with the community as the three items that will make him feel at home.
