We are very excited to have him a part of our team and cover Gator football, as well as other sports. This is a very big step for this site. We are all very excited about the future."

Ackerman played for Florida from 1987 to 1991, the last two seasons under Steve Spurrier, and was a member of the Gators' first official SEC championship team in 1991. He also was a graduate assistant/quality control with the 1993 Florida team that won the SEC and defeated West Virginia in the Sugar Bowl.

"I believe that the interest in the University of Florida is at an all-time high as far as interest level and success. Gators fans are unique in that they have a 365-day passion for their university. Our goal is to provide interesting perspective that no other site can offer with regards to recruiting, ex player insight and members of the Gator family."
