Profile 2003 - Simon Alston (OL/DL)

Lineman Simon Alston's Northwood team narrowly missed the playoffs last season, but it wasn't for a lack of effort on Alston's part. "I started both ways last year," said Alston. "I played offensive and defensive tackle. I like playing defense better; I just like to hit people," Alston said with a chuckle.

Alston has the perfect frame for an offensive or defensive tackle at this point. With a 4.95 forty at 6-5 and 265 pounds, Alston is the type of player that will grow in to a monster on either the offensive or defensive lines. "I like East Carolina, North Carolina, NC State, Florida State, Florida, Georgia Tech, and South Carolina right now. I'm planning on camping at ECU, UNC and may at NC State."

While Alston is slow to make predictions for his upcoming season, the understated big man may have given a warning to opponents with this simple phrase: "We should be all right." That's about as close to bravado as Alston will get.
