Means Likes the Gators

Meet Mr. Means. No, he is not related to Albert, although he does play on the defensive line. Delaine Means is a powerful prospect from Avondale, Georgia.

One of the top defensive line prospects from the state of Georgia is Delaine Means from Avondale High School. Means, 6-4 and 290 pounds, plays defensive end, fullback and tight end. Last season as a junior, Means recorded 14 sacks, 18 tackles for a loss and 44 tackles. He also scored 4 touchdowns.

"I am very intimidating out on the field," said Means. "I bring the pressure. Teams tend to run away from me so that helps my teammates out. Sometimes, I have to pursue everything."

According to Means, he has scholarship offers from Maryland, Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State and LSU. And right now, Mr. Means has a school favorite. "I really like Maryland. "Coach Bratten (MD assistant )recruits me for them and he seems very down to earth. Maryland is a very good school with great academics. They are my leader.

"I also like Florida, Clemson, South Carolina and LSU. I want to go to a school with a good atmosphere where I can really fit in. Of course, I want to play early too."

Means will participate this coming week in the state track meet in the shot put. He plans to camp this summer at Clemson, LSU and Maryland. Last season, he missed three games due to a back injury.
