Florida Gator

It's easy to forget what is important
It used to puzzle Bobby Bowden. The Florida State coach would hear the grumbling coming from Gainesville and get a couple of dadgummits out before dismissing the comments as the rantings of a coach he could never figure out.

Priority No. 1 Protecting Leak
Florida State's defensive front leads the ACC in pummeled quarterbacks and sacks and figures to be in a particularly nasty mood Saturday after a loss to Florida a year ago in the first game played on Bobby Bowden Field.

Trio of injured standouts should be good for Saturday
Junior defensive end Ray McDonald's injured right knee was drained Wednesday and he did not practice, but he's expected to play in Saturday's game against Florida State, UF coach Urban Meyer said.

Recruits scrutinize this game
Each year the Florida-Florida State game has an impact on the national polls. It also has an impact on future polls.

'Noles-Hokies in title game?
Florida State will represent the Atlantic Division in the ACC title game by virtue of defeating Boston College although they tied atop the standings at 5-3.

Best conference? The SEC, easily
Poor Aubie. Best team in the nation last season and couldn't play for the national championship. Best team in the SEC this year and can't play for the league championship. Maybe the Eufaula (Ala.) Tribune will give the Tigers some paper championship again. That, or Auburn will have to settle for my designation of being the best team in the best conference.

Sexton on recovery road
The simple pleasures of parenthood -- a son's smile of satisfaction after passing a test, siblings chasing each other around the house, or playing guitar -- are cherished more than ever in the Sexton home.

Ailing defensive end likely to play vs. FSU
It appears Florida defensive end Ray McDonald will play at least one more game this season. Gators coach Urban Meyer said Wednesday that McDonald, who has struggled in his return from knee surgery, likely will play against 23rd-ranked Florida State on Saturday. The junior didn't practice Wednesday after having his knee drained.

With This Bunch, Don't Expect Any Leftovers
The Gators' Mike Degory likes to bring teammates home at Thanksgiving for some of his mother's legendary cooking

Gators' Baker Plans To Return
Though he is listed as a senior in Florida's media guide, WR Dallas Baker will not be honored with the senior class before Saturday's Florida State game.

UF just doesn't have feature back
Florida Coach Urban Meyer's challenge was to find a tailback for the spread-option offense he brought from Utah.

Florida Gator Basketball

Comedy of free throw errors
Billy Donovan hasn't played competitive basketball since his one season with the New York Knicks in 1987-88, but Florida's coach is pretty sure he could step up to the free-throw line in a game today and perform better than his players.

Florida Gator Rex Grossman

Grossman expects to suit up against Bucs
Rex Grossman expects to be in uniform for the first time this season when the Chicago Bears visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
