    Head Coach Urban Meyer Quotes

On the win against Florida State:

"That was a great win, and this was a great night. We saw this opponent coming down the road and knew this was an important game, not only from a recruiting standpoint, but for this team."

On the high emotions in the locker room:

"After the game that was a very emotional locker room. These last two weeks of practice have been about the hardest we've had this season. It was an emotional preparation for this game. Dee Brown stood up after the game and said the reason he played so hard tonight was simply for Vernell Brown. That was a very emotional moment in the locker room and if it came from the heart, we've got this program headed in the right direction."

On the blocked field goal returned for a touchdown:

"The blocked field goal that Reggie Lewis returned for a touchdown was the play of the day."

    On Florida's rivalry games:

"Florida is unique. I kept hearing about all these rivalries, and I think this one was the best. That stadium was electric and our players fed off of it. Everything you hear about this game is right on."

On the direction of the program:

"Obviously we're a new program, we've had some speed bumps along the way, but I'm real proud of this season. There's a lot of scrutiny on the program – but that's what it is; A lot of places are scrutinized. This is a big win for our program, over our third rival and we're 6-0 in the Swamp this year. We have recruiting we have bowl preparation and we have off-season program to focus on now."

    On wide receiver Chad Jackson:

"He's not going to like me saying this, but Chad Jackson can get a lot better. I'm not sure how many catches he had for the year, he's still learning how to play wide receiver. He's Chris Leak's go-to-guy, and I think there's room for improvement there."

    Head Coach Bobby Bowden Quotes

    On the game

"If you look at the stats, you'd think we tied. We got 18 first downs, they got 17. They had 111 rushing, we had 89. We had 285 passing, they had 211. Will this keep me up at night? No. The blocked field goal was big, instead of 7-3 at halftime, it was 14-0. It seemed like turnovers were our downfall."

On his comment to the team

"I told them we got a ball game next week as big as this one. That's all you can do when we get beat. I told them the same thing last week preparing for this game, and we got beat. Now you just look to the next game and go from there. That's all you can do."

    On the team's confidence

"The level of confidence is better than you'd think. Our kids before the game. . . I thought we'd win it, they thought we'd win it. When you don't prepare hard like we did not prepare hard because we couldn't because we were so beat up, you go out the next week and lay the ball down because your kids are not used to getting hit and pushed around. That goes back on me and my preparation. But we were so beat up that I felt like we had to get well last week. They prepared better in that regard, but our kids were confident going in. It had nothing to do with our loss and turning the ball over and stuff like that. I thought Florida played great, they did a good job."

    On the first quarter

"We couldn't protect the passer. We had people open but couldn't protect the passer. We were going to try to run the ball and throw it, but we ran the ball better than I thought, to be honest. We would cock our arm… and they just ran over and around us."

    Player Quotes

    QB Chris Leak

On the win… "This is how I felt last year. That was huge for us then and it is now, too. Not many players get to experience this and playing a great team like Florida State. It's something you can't explain. When you go undefeated in The Swamp, you know you've taken it back. The fans came out and supported us and we stuck together to get it done in the end. "

On Jemalle Cornelius "Jemalle is the type of guy who can make the big plays and I can get the ball to him every time. He is a big playmaker and one of our hardest workers on the team. When I get the ball to him, he makes the big plays."

    CB Reggie Lewis

On the blocked field-goal return for a touchdown… "It feels good to be able to block a field goal at all, and to run it back for a touchdown was even better. That would have been a big momentum change for Florida State if they had made the field goal. Luckily, it went the opposite way, and I was able to come up with a big play for our team."

On defeating Florida State… "This was a big win for us. Instead of going 7-4, we're going 8-3. Our job was to go out there and earn The Swamp back, and we definitely did that tonight."

WR Chad Jackson On having over 1,500 career receiving yards… "This was a big night for everyone. I don't pay too much attention to my stats. I just show up, go out there and play the best game that I can."

On the crowd… "The crowd was amazing, like they always are. They are a big factor in all games, even our road games. They are so supportive and always there, and it makes the win that much better."

    QB Drew Weatherford

On the offense's performance… "We did exactly what we weren't supposed to do to win"

"With the talent on this squad, to go out and play like we did is real embarrassing."

On the team's ability to bounce back… "We have a lot of character on this team. We have a lot of great seniors and great leaders. It's just a question of whether we're going to or not"

    WR Chris Davis

On the key to the game… "(It was the) turnovers, we had too many turnovers and poor execution. We could have made big plays and didn't come up with them."

On the team's attitude "We're very disappointed in ourselves, not just this loss, but we had a loss before this one as well."

    WR Willie Reid

On the team's attitude… "We didn't expect to come down here and lose, especially the way we did."

"The guys still believe in our team. We showed at the end. We're working hard, but we just have to go back to the drawing board and correct a lot of mistakes as far as turnovers."

    RB Leon Washington

On the team's confidence… "The seniors will not let this team fall apart."

On the rushing attack… "I was disappointed. As an athlete and competitor, you want to be able to run the ball and you can't do that when you're down."

    DB Kyler Hall

On the defense's performance… "We made some big plays, but we made too many mental mistakes and had too many penalties."
