RECRUITING: Fayson pulls trigger on Gators!

It's bad enough to be clobbered by your hated in-state rival. The heat is significantly turned up when hours later, one of the best high school athletes in the country tells you that you're not good enough. Hillsborough High School quarterback Jarred Fayson committed to University of Florida head football coach Urban Meyer after the Gators 34-7 scalping of arch-rival Florida State.

Fayson is one of the finest athletes in the nation and led the Terriers to 10-0 regular season record.

"Jarred kind of made up his mind as we were sitting there watching the game," guardian Harold Harper said. "He talked with his mother (Carla Powell) and me during the game and he said that he just felt like it was time to get that monkey off of his back, I guess that you could say. He said that he feels like he's ready to make that decision and we support him 100%."

Fayson played quarterback for the Terriers this season. He completed 45 of 99 for 755 yards and six touchdowns. But, the thing that he does best is run with the ball in his hands. Fayson has a tremendous blend of speed, quickness, and moves that caused many sleepless nights for Tampa area defensive coordinators. It appears that Fayson will spread that trend throughout the Southeastern Conference.

"He feels comfortable up there and really felt like that was the place to be," Harper added. "He really likes what they're putting together and wants to help Coach Meyer get them to where they want to be. Wherever he can contribute be it quarterback, receiver, or H-back that's what he wants to do. He's such a good athlete that he can get out there and just do what he does best, play football. He just wants to get to work in the next day or two now that he knows where he's going."
