"Coach [Mike] Shula, and coach [Dave] Ungerer made an in-home visit yesterday [Monday]," said Toryan Smith. "They were letting me know how much they wanted and needed me at Alabama. They were very interested in knowing a lot more about me personally."
"I was very impressed with how professional they handled everything. They made me feel very good," Smith added.
Parents play a key role in a prospect's decision, and Smith's parents were impressed by the Alabama coaches as well.
"My parents liked them a lot," Smith said. "I think the in-home visit with Alabama definitely helped them out a lot."
Alabama is the only school remaining on Smith's list of favorites that did not receive an official visit. However, Smith did take several unofficial visits to Tuscaloosa this fall.
"I couldn't go to the other schools every weekend like I could Alabama," he said. "I went to a few games in Tuscaloosa this year. The thing I like the most about Alabama is the depth chart situation. They have a rich tradition at linebacker, and the prestige of Alabama's program is very high."
Smith expects to have more visitors this week as he shared, "Coach Bill Lewis [Notre Dame] is coming to my house tomorrow. Coach [Charlie] Strong from Florida is planning to be here Thursday and coach [Urban] Meyer is coming on Saturday."
Alabama, Florida, Michigan and Notre Dame are equal on the three-star linebacker's list, but one lucky school will receive his verbal commitment on Monday.
