Gators pick up OL pledge
The Outback Bowl's decision to select Florida wasn't the only positive news for the Gators coming out of Tampa on Sunday.

Meyer wanted UF in Tampa
Beating its three biggest rivals has paid off for No.16 Florida with a bowl trip to Tampa. The Gators will play No.25 Iowa in the Jan.2 Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium, earning their spot in the bowl game by beating Tennessee, Georgia and Florida State.

Outback Bowl A Reunion Of 2004
The University of Florida football team played its way back to Tampa when it routed Florida State on Nov. 26. More importantly, the Gators played their way back to January.

Gators Get Berkeley Prep Football Standout
A few hours before University of Florida football coach Urban Meyer learned his team would go to Tampa for the Outback Bowl, Meyer learned a standout high school player from Tampa plans to come to Gainesville next season.

Florida Returning To Outback
The University of Florida is coming to Tampa. The Gators (8-3), whose Nov. 26 rout of Florida State vaulted them into consideration for a New Year's Day bowl, will face Iowa (7-4) in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 2, bowl president Jim McVay said Sunday afternoon. Iowa beat Florida in the 2004 Outback Bowl.

Florida's postseason doesn't look so terrible after all. While the No. 16 Gators were bracing for the possibility of playing in the lower-echelon Dec. 30 Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La., Urban Meyer and Co. learned they will ring in the New Year in a familiar setting -- at the higher-profile Outback Bowl in Tampa.
