Cunningham finished the regular season with 19 sacks for Stephenson, which lost in the state semifinals to eventual Georgia state champ Lowndes County. He'll be in Gainesville Friday to make his official visit to the University of Florida. He had originally planned to be at UF for the Florida-Florida State game but those plans had to be altered because his team was in the state playoffs.
He is taking a very business-like attitude about the visit.
"I will be traveling to Gainesville on Friday," he said. "I will arrive at around 6 p.m. and I'm looking forward to a good weekend."
He is making the trip with family members whom he says will help him make the big decision about where to spend the next four or five years of his life.
"My mom and dad will be traveling with me and they will be a big part of the decision of where I go to college," says Cunningham.
Cunningham has already taken official visits to Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Auburn. This will be the last official visit that he takes and afterward, he will start making final comparisons so he can make his choice.
"I would like to make my decision of what college I will attend by the end of this year," Cunningham said.
Florida's running back coach, Stan Drayton, has been recruiting Cunningham but he isn't the only member of the Florida staff who stays in touch.
"Coach Drayton calls and so does (co-defensive coordinator/defensive line coach) Coach (Greg) Mattison," he said. "Coach Mattison calls twice a week."
Cunningham has developed a great relationship with Urban Meyer.
"He's a great coach that's trying to change Florida's football program and there is not much about the game of football that he does not know," said Cunningham.
Academics for Cunningham are equally as important as the football program of the school that he attends. "I am looking for a school with a stable coaching staff, and a family atmosphere between the players and the coaches," he said. "The facilities of the school are also important as is the business management program. I am looking to majoring in business and the University of Florida has one of the best business schools in the nation." said Cunningham
Cunningham has met the NCAA clearing house qualifying numbers of 960 on the SAT and has a 2.6 GPA.
