Profile 2003 - Cory Clemons (WR)
Lowndes High School in Valdosta, GA had an 11-2 record last season and was on the brink of a trip to the Georgia Dome for a state title shot. Big, physical wide receiver Cory Clemons was a big reason for Lowndes' success.
At 6-1 and 205 pounds, Clemson looks the part of a strong safety or linebacker. With a 325 pound bench press, Clemons has the attributes to star there. But Clemons is a wide receiver all the way. He runs crisp routes and has a good set of hands. Clemons was a reliable target in the Lowndes offense hauling in 63 catches for 880 yards and 11 touchdowns.
"We have a new coach this year," said Clemons. "He said I might get to play some strong safety too. I'll also be returning kicks this season. I'm planning on camping at Florida and Auburn. Florida, Auburn, Georgia, Clemson, and FSU are my top 5 schools right now."
Clemons will be an attractive target of colleges across the nation this year for several reasons. He is physically strong enough to handle the rigors of the college game, and more importantly, he's already made a qualifying test score on his SAT.
