"It was good," Darin Baldwin said. "We hung out with the college players and saw the campus. We met the coaches and just really had fun. They told us about the college courses and how a basic day was."
"We had a lot of fun up there. The best part was probably the facilities. They had an entire weight room and cafeteria for just the football team. I liked all of that stuff."
Baldwin's host was former South Dade star and current Wolfpack cornerback Marcus Hudson.
"I've known Marcus for a long time," said Baldwin. "We hung out and talked about the school. He was a good host. He said it was the first time he ever hosted recruits."
Baldwin met with Wolfpack head coach Chuck Amato and talked with him about where he stands in his recruitment.
"It was cool to talk with coach Amato," he said. "He was telling me they play a lot of cover-1 defense. They showed me how they play a lot of defensive backs every game and said that I would get to play a lot as a freshman. The coaches don't even tell the backs to switch out a lot of times, they all do it. They give you a chance to show what you got as a freshman.
"I liked how coach Amato didn't pressure me. He made it clear that we shouldn't feel pushed into committing or anything like that. Some schools talk about how they may run out of scholarships so you need to commit early, but coach Amato didn't mention any of that. I liked that. I felt comfortable with that."
Baldwin has a visit set with Florida and plans on scheduling his remaining trips, but it will all depend on his wrestling season. He is a star wrestler who finished second in his weight class last year.
"I'm going to Florida on January 6th," he said. "I'm going to take more if I have the time. It just depends on when districts start with wrestling. I'll have a decision after all the visits."
Recently Baldwin stated that Florida was his leader, but after his trip to Raleigh it appears that NC State has made up ground on the Gators.
"I do like Florida, I used to stay there," Walker said. "But I don't know if I'd call them my leader. It's NC State or Florida. I'd go to either one of those schools. It's going to be one of those two."
