Florida Offers Another DL

The Gators need defensive linemen and they offer another one from out of state.

One of the top prospects from the Magnolia State is Sean Merrill from D'Iberville, Mississippi. Merrill, 6-4 and 278 pounds, recorded 85 tackles and 14 sacks as a junior.

"Sean is a very good pass rusher and he will run to the football," said D'Iberville Head Coach Lewis Smith. "He is as strong as an ox and will run right over you. Sean is hard to block and often faces double and triple teams."

Merrill is strong (365 bench press and 300 power clean) and runs well (4.85 forty).

"I love to rush the passer and stop the run," said Merrill. "I love those big linemen pulling and coming right at me because I will knock them right out and pop them in the mouth. I get pumped up out there."

Right now, he has scholarship offers from South Carolina, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Florida, Tennessee and Alabama. At the moment, Merrill is wide open. "I like Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Mississippi State. Playing early is the big thing for me. I also want to find a place where I feel comfortable. I also have to love the position coach. Right now, I am real open."
