Prospect 2003: Demetrice Webb (CB)

[MEDIA:32874]
UFI caught up with Demetrice Webb, a very tall cornerback from Jacksonville, Florida. Most of the top programs in the southeast and the country have shown interest in him but he has narrowed his college choices to five schools. Did Florida make the cut?

Demetrice Webb is an exceptional cornerback prospect and he plays his high school ball at Jacksonville Ed White High School. One thing that college coaches are always looking for is a tall, athletic cornerback to match up with the very tall receivers that keep coming out of high school these days. This is one reason why Webb, who is 6'0" tall, is receiving so much attention from coaches at this phase of his recruitment.

Webb currently does not have any plans to attend any summer camps but he will be working hard in the weight room every Monday and Thursday to make sure he gets as strong as can be for this upcoming season. Also, he will be running on a summer track team, which will only improve his speed.

Currently, Webb has offers from, "Florida State, Miami, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Clemson, and West Virginia." There were some more schools that had offered him but he could not remember them off the top of his head. Of those schools that have extended him a written offer, the five he is focusing his attention on right now are, "Miami, Florida, Florida State, North Carolina, and Tennessee." Webb added that no specific team leads but the three Florida teams do hold an advantage over North Carolina and Tennessee.

Webb hopes to, "win a state championship," this upcoming season. One reason his team might just achieve that goal is because, according to Webb, his team has great chemistry. "We do a lot of stuff together. We are like a family. If you [have] good chemistry on the team, that can take you a long way."
