RB Eyes the Gators

[MEDIA:32874]
When is comes to running backs, Skyler Thornton from LaGrange, Georgia is one of the nation's best. He is a North-South power back with good speed that gives great effort. Thornton helped his team to a state title last season. The Gators have offered Thornton.

Perhaps the least publicized of the great running backs among the Class of 2003 is Sklyer Thornton from LaGrange, Georgia. If you have ever seen Carnell "Cadillac" Williams play at Auburn or in high school, then that will give you a good feel for the running style of Thornton. They are almost mirror images of each other.

"He is a physical runner that will pound you and pound you," said LaGrange Head Coach Steve Pardue. "This is the ninth year he has been in the program and he is real familiar with what we try and do. Skyler has spent the last four seasons with the varsity."

Thornton rushed the ball 199 times for 1,592 yards and scored 21 touchdowns in helping his team to a state title last season.

"I guess you could say I am a hard-nosed runner," said Thornton. "I give a lot of effort and I am always running North-South. I think I play bigger than I am."

According to Pardue and Thornton, he has scholarship offers from Georgia, Florida, LSU, Maryland, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Wake Forest, ECU, Vanderbilt and Middle Tennessee State.

"Right now, I like Georgia, Florida, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Maryland, and LSU. I do not have a leader and I hope to take my time with the decision. I am looking at playing time and tradition."

Thornton hopes to camp at Georgia this summer.
