Browns make pitch to Scott, sign Zastudil

OWINGS MILLS -- The Cleveland Browns are trying to lock up Baltimore Ravens free agent linebacker Bart Scott on Sunday afternoon, swapping proposals with Scott's representative.

It's believed that the Ravens will have a chance to compete for Scott, who broke through as a starter with a career-best performance in relief of a sidelined Ray Lewis last season.

If Scott doesn't sign with the Browns or Ravens today, he will likely visit the Arizona Cardinals next while not ruling out the Seattle Seahawks and a few other teams.

"If the money is even close, then my top choice is to stay with the Ravens," Scott said. "Baltimore is my home until they tell me otherwise even though I'm going to listen to what other teams have to say."

Free agent punter Dave Zastudil has signed with the Browns, his hometown team.

Zastudil played collegiately at Ohio University and has started for the Ravens for the past four seasons after being drafted in the fourth round.

Zastudil, 27, signed a five-year contract. His 43.5 yard average last season was a career-high. His career average is 41.6 yards per punt with 89 career punts inside the 20-yard line with 32 touchbacks.
