[MEDIA:32874]
Brian Pata is a talented DL from Miami (Fla.) Central High School. Many scouts feel he is the top DL prospect from the state of Florida.

The May Evaluation period is wonderful because a lot of prospects emerge from pack. One such player from the Sunshine State is defense lineman Brian Pata. Some scouts think he is now the number one rated defensive linemen prospect from the state of Florida. He plays for Miami (Fla.) Central High School.

"I think I can rush the passer and stop the run," said Pata. "I like to get into the backfield and disrupt things."

Last season as a junior, Pata played defensive end, defensive tackle, offensive tackle, offensive guard and fullback. He has good size (6-4, 260) and speed (4.8). According to Pata, he has scholarship offers from Florida, FSU, Auburn, Clemson, North Carolina, Rutgers, and USF.

"Miami is my favorite because I love their defense. They have become dominant once again. I can see myself playing there and fitting in but I want to take my time with the decision and make sure."

Pata is also considering Florida, Florida State and Rutgers. Last season, he recorded 9.5 sacks.
