Basketball Recruit Update: Ryan Appleby (PG)

[MEDIA:32874]<BR> Ryan Appleby is a super 6'3", 165-pound PG prospect out of Standwood High School, in Washington (the state). UFI spoke with Ryan and he talks about who is top five is, where he has offers from, Billy Donovan, his visit this past weekend to UF, and when he will likely make a decision.

Appleby is one of the best point guards in the 2003 recruiting class.  His top five right now is, "Florida, Gonzaga, Missouri, Stanford, and North Carolina State."  He added that no one school holds an advantage over the other.  Florida is one of two schools that have offered him a scholarship, with the other being Gonzaga.

This past weekend he went to Florida for an official visit.  Here is what he had to say about that trip, "It was good.  I had fun down there.  It was nice.  I was impressed."  The Gators have shown a lot of interest in him as of late and some sources are saying that he will commit to UF any day now.  But Appleby said that while a decision about his college destination will not be made in the next couple of days, it will, "probably be within the next two weeks."

Appleby said that UF Basketball Coach Billy Donovan "is a good guy.  He's got a lot of energy.  He's got a real passion for basketball."  He also added that what he likes about UF is the way they play basketball and the way the develop players for the next level of basketball.
