Gator fans invited to greet National Champs

The University of Florida is inviting Gator fans to the Gainesville Raceway Tuesday afternoon to greet the 2006 NCAA Championship basketball team upon return from Indianapolis. UF defeated UCLA 73-57 Monday evening in Indianapolis for the first NCAA title in Gator men's basketball history. The Gainesville Raceway is on Highway 441 and 53rd Avenue. Fans should not go to the Gainesville Regional Airport.

The Raceway will allow fans in the grandstands starting at 11 a.m. and seating will be on a first-come first-serve basis. Parking is available at the Raceway. The Gator caravan is scheduled to arrive at the Raceway between 12:15-12:30 p.m. and Sun Sports will televise the event live.

Concessions and the Gator Sports Shop will be at the Raceway Tuesday. A limited number of national championship t-shirts will be available. Both can accept cash only.

Fans will also have a chance to celebrate with the Gator basketball team on Friday evening at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. Fans can enjoy video highlights, the Gator band and cheerleaders. Head Coach Billy Donovan will also address the crowd. Further details for Friday's event will be available later this week.
