Super Safety Favors Florida

A player whose stock will certainly soar this fall is safety Brandon Owens from Del Ray Beach (Fla.) Atlantic High School. Owens, now 6-2 and close to 200 pounds, plays strong safety.

"I read the play and then make the play," said Owens. "I am more of a run stopper... a big hitter. But I play the pass very well too."

Owens has one solid offer at the moment and that comes from the Georgia Bulldogs. He camped there earlier this summer. Later on this week, he heads to Tallahassee to camp with Florida State.

"Florida is my leader right now. I have liked them since I was small. I have visited there before. I like the staff. Hopefully, an offer is coming soon. I also like FSU, Miami and Georgia. Right now, I want to take my time with the decision. I want to find a place where the coaches can help me become a better player. I also want to play early but I don't wanted it handed to me. I want to work hard for it."

Owens is widely regarded as one of the top defensive prospects and safeties from the Sunshine State among the Class of 2003.  With a solid senior campaign, the offers will start to come in.
