"It was awesome," James Wilson said about his day on Saturday. "I got another good look at Florida and spent some time with Timmy (QB Tim Tebow), Coach Meyer, and Hevesy and all the coaches. I just got another chance to see the Gators."
Tebow was Wilson's teammate at Nease last year when the two were catalysts for the first state championship in Nease history. Wilson has a pretty good bond with Tebow.
"We are very close," he said. "He is an outgoing guy and a great leader. He taught me a lot about high school and the game. He taught me about the recruiting process and to stay humble. He taught me to never give up and always give your best. No matter how bad you are losing always give your best no matter what."
One particular coach was on Wilson during the day yesterday. Coach Steve Addazio coaches the tackles at Florida and talked a great deal about the finer points of Wilson's game.
"I got to hang around Coach Addazio a lot and learn a lot about what he knows about the game and what he knows about me from seeing my film," Wilson said. "He said the really good things that he saw were when I make contact I accelerate. He loves my athleticism. He wants me to work on my stance and get it a little better in my pass protection. I also talked to Urban Meyer a lot and got to see what he thought."
Wilson stayed in town Saturday night and will be here until early evening watching one of his teammates participate in the first day of Urban Meyer's camp going on, on campus.
"I am still in town right now and walking around with my teammate and friend Clyde Yandell and his family," Wilson said. "We are just walking around and taking another look at the campus. He will be at the camp this week and I am going to stay around and watch him tonight."
Wilson has a couple of more trips planned this summer. He will be making some long distance treks to see some big time programs.
"I am going to Southern Cal later this month for two weeks and going to a camp there," he said. "I am going to a camp at Notre Dame and one at Wake Forrest."
James Wilson is high atop the offensive line board for the Florida Gators. His trip to Gainesville seemed to only help in his recruitment to the University of Florida.
