RECRUITING: Gators on top for Michael Quinn

Mike Quinn, who ran one of the fastest 40-times (4.4) at the All-American Combine back in March, is coming off a strong junior season as a quarterback. He threw for 1,097 yards and 15 touchdowns and also had 130 yards rushing and four scores. Now he's playing both ways.

"I'm playing corner now too," Quinn said. "A lot of schools are recruiting me for defense. I think I have great closing speed. If I get beat, I can always catch up with my speed."

Quinn, 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds from Port St. Joe, has one offer and interest from several others.

"FIU is my only offer," he said. "Florida, Florida State, South Carolina, FIU, FAU, and Florida A&M all (called in May)."

The talented cornerback prospect plans on camping at Florida this weekend and then Florida State later this summer.

"Right now, Florida is number one," he said. "Number two is South Carolina, three is Florida State, four is FIU, and five is Clemson."
