Chris Leak is one of the nation's elite prospects and the number two ranked (5 star) quarterback in the country according to TheInsiders.com. Leak, 6-0 and 205 pounds, stars for Charlotte (N.C.) Independence High School. Leak was just named the MVP of the recent Richmond County (N.C.) Seven on Seven passing tournament, leading Independence to the title.
"I am having a good summer just trying to enjoy everything," said Leak. "The tournament was fine. I am working with my young receivers trying to get our timing down for the season."
Leak did spend some time at summer camps at Florida, Tennessee and North Carolina.
"I had a real good camp at Florida. That offense is going to be wide open. You will see with Rex (Grossman) this season. They will put up some huge numbers. I worked on some fundamentals with Coach Zaunbrecher (offensive coordinator) as well. He seems like a good guy and a good coach.
"Tennessee was great as usual. Man their coaches are so good to you. It was another great camp.
"North Carolina was too. I spent some time with Coach Brewer (wide receiver coach) and Coach Tranquil (offensive coordinator). I like those guys a lot."
In regards to recruiting, not much has changed for Leak. The same two college football powers lead for his services.
"It is still Tennessee and Florida. I also like UNC, FSU, Notre Dame and UCLA. Right now, I plan on taking all five of my visits."
