RECRUITING: OL Yandell up to 22 offers

Clyde Yandell didn't even play on the offensive line last season but thanks to a strong performance at the All-American Combine in March, an excellent spring session in May, and a few impressive showings at some camps this summer, Yandell has become one of the state's top offensive line prospects.

"I'm up to 22 offers now," Yandell said. "I'm still looking at a good number of them right now though. Some of the main ones in football are Florida, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Northwestern just came in the other day. Things are going really well."

The St. Augustine (Fla.) Nease standout lineman, 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, has been to four camps so far this summer. Two of the schools have offered while he's still waiting on the other two.

"I've been to Michigan and Notre Dame and Florida and Wake Forest," he said. "Michigan and Notre Dame haven't offered me yet. After I went to their camps is when they first started recruiting me. They kinda wanna see some senior tape first."

The talented lineman comes from a program that sent Tim Tebow to Florida last year. Yandell talked about getting the offer from Florida.

"I went for camp there and did good," he said. "After that, they invited me down for a day and I spent some time with the coaches. It was just them having a chance to get to know me better. I got an offer at the end of that. Florida's a good place with good academics. They have a really good program with great coaches and the recruiting's going well for them. Within the next few years, they could be winning a national title."

Despite his interest in Florida, Yandell's not ready to name a favorite yet.

"I really haven't narrowed it down," he said. "I'm still considering everyone who has offered. I'll start to narrow it down later on."
