Area player, two others give UF nod
Even though a violent thunderstorm sent football players and coaches scrambling for cover at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium during the second annual version of UF's Friday Night Lights camp, three attendees were impressed enough to pledge to make Florida their college choice.

Favoring the short game
Clemson coach Tommy Bowden beat the NCAA punch last season when he burned a timeout late in the third quarter of the Tigers' 35-14 rout of Florida State to give the replay official a chance to take a longer look at a disputed touchdown reception.

Webb signs four-year deal with Jaguars
Putting together complicated deals to squeeze under this year's rookie salary cap pool, the Jaguars reached terms on four-year contracts Monday with their two seventh-round draft picks, defensive end James Wyche and cornerback Dee Webb.

Florida, FSU add commitments
The Seminoles made DeLand offensive lineman Will Furlong their sixth commitment for 2007, while the Gators added Alachua Santa Fe offensive lineman Linval Joseph and Joe Haden of Fort Washington, Md.

Knees healed, but spirit shows scars
All that's left now is the first hit. Florida defensive end Ray McDonald will endure it in the coming weeks, when an offensive lineman dives toward his scarred knees or when a falling teammate crashes into either of his legs.

Leak honored on All-SEC 1st team
Entering its second year at UF, the vaunted Urban Meyer offense was bested Thursday, as the Gators' defense picked up a majority of the team's Southeastern Conference preseason honors.

Recruits pick UF after skills camp
UF's second annual Friday Night Lights camp proved to be another successful one, as three highly ranked recruits gave the Gators verbal commitments during the weekend.
