Gators Land #3

[MEDIA:32875]
Clint McMillan has committed to Florida. He is a self-made prospect from Oviedo, Florida. McMillan has worked hard off the field. He will likely play defensive tackle at UF. McMillan committed yesterday.

The Florida Gators picked up commitment number three yesterday from Clint McMillan from Oviedo, Florida. McMillan, 6-3 and 270 pounds, is quite an athlete for a big man. He plays middle linebacker, defensive end, tight end, offensive guard and tackle. "Florida offered him a scholarship yesterday.

"The Gators called my coach with a scholarship offer," said McMillan. "My coach called me and then I called Florida and committed to them. The Gators have a great athletic program, a great law school and the coaches are so friendly."

Ironically, McMillan grew up a Florida State fan. He camped at FSU, Florida and Central Florida.

"I actually liked all three Florida schools. I had a great camp at FSU and Florida and the Florida camp really opened up my eyes to the Gators. That is why I jumped on this offer. You can't get any better than Florida. I am now a Gator."

At Florida, McMillan will likely play defensive tackle. Two years ago, he ran a 5.6 forty. Two years later, he is done to a 4.7 forty with a goal of 4.6. He has spent the past 24 months with a personal trainer and speed trainer. McMillan also bench presses 420 pounds.

"Lots of hard work over the past two years... that is the best way to describe how and why I have gotten better, bigger and faster. I was always an average football player and there have been a lot of lows. But the hard work is now really starting to pay off."

McMillan committed to Florida over FSU, Michigan, Central Florida and others. Florida was the first school to offer him a scholarship. Last season, he recorded 35 tackles and 3 sacks at defensive end. This season, he will start at middle linebacker.
