Freshman Practice #1

The freshmen all reported today but there was one player missing. Here are some news, notes and thoughts from practice one.

Freshmen Report to First Practice

  • 29 freshmen reported on the Gator practice field at 6am.
  • Most notably missing was Channing Crowder- it is not academics but his health.  He will be red-shirted and brought along slowly.  Crowder is coming off a torn ACL.  More on him later today.
  • The QBs wore red jerseys
  • The offense wore white jerseys and the defense had blue jerseys and they had last names on jerseys
  • They ran through some drills.  Bith Patrick Dosh and Gavin Dickey threw the ball well.  I like Dickey.  He will probably be more effective in the shotgun because of his height.   Dosh looks like a solid QB as well.
  • CiatrickFason (#4) and DeShaun Wynn (#20) are in good shape and should form a nice battle.  Jimtavis Walke(#24) is more of a stocky Willie Green look alike.
  • Kenneth Tookes (#3), a WR,  looks good on the hoof... nice hands good size
  • Other WRs - Reggie Lewis (#22), Jemalle Cornelius (#12), Brian Crum (#7) did some nice things as well
  • All the linebackers were walk ons-3
  • Defensive line looks pretty impressive
  • Tauren Charles (#92),  Steven Harris (#93) the most agile in my opinion.
  • Ryan Carter (#71) looks like a center.
  • Randy Hand (#74) is big and moves well.  Rremember, it is hard to evaluate lines of scrimmage untill pads go on and the big boys get here
  •  Dosh is wearing #10 and Dickey #17
  •  DBs Nick Brooks (#36) looks like a safety but is working at corner
  •  Jermaine McCollum (#15) and Tremaine McCollum (#23) look athletic.  Jermaine impressed me the most.
