Monday Morning Practice Notes

Here are some news and notes about today's first practice for the Florida Gators with the entire team.

The Gators hit the practice field for two hours and fifteen minutes this morning.  Here are some news and notes regarding the first day of Camp Zook with the entire team.

  • Vernell Brown lined up on offense as a wide receiver.  He looked good with the ball in his hands, ran good routes and looks like he will stay there.
  • Jonathan Marvin was not there and will not report until school starts later on this month.  No reason was given for his absence.
  • Dallas Baker practiced and looked good.  He is big and rangy and has good hands.  He knows the offense pretty well for not really practicing that much.  He knew where to go.  Dallas also looks like he can contribute this season as long as he gets cleared to play.
  • Maurice Mitchell looked leaner and more mobile than he did in the spring.
  • The offense worked on the option game with Rex Grossman, Ingle Martin, Gavin Dickey and Patrick Dosh.
  • All three freshmen running back looked very good once again, especially Ciatrick Fason and DeShaun Wynn.
  • Practice recall was very good from the spring.  Coaches were impressed that all the players knew were to go and did it very quickly.
  • Rex Grossman looked very sharp.
  • The defense put in eight new defensive looks this morning.
  • The offensive line looks good and they are all moving well but we will really get a better idea when the pads are on.
  • Lester Norwood and Cory Bailey both worked behind Todd Johnson and Guss Scott.
  • Robert Cromartie had a solid practice.
  • Tre Orr is getting a strong look at cornerback.
  • Don't be surprised if one of the McCollum twins ends up backing up one of the starting cornerbacks.
  • Practice was made a little easier because the weather was a little cooler.
  • There were no injuries to report.
