Here are some news and notes regarding Monday's practice, as the Gators get ready for their season opener against UAB.

Monday's Practice Report

News and notes from Monday's practice -

  • Maurice Mitchell, Sylvester McGrew, Kelvin Kight were all caught with open containers on Saturday at a party on campus.  The players will not be suspended and everything will be handled internally.  Coach Zook said the situation is not as bad as what they originally thought.  They will all play against UAB but likely not start.  All three practiced today.
  • Todd Johnson did not practice today but he says he is ready to go.  Lester Norwood will start if Johnson is not ready.
  • Vernell Brown is listed at the number one receivers with Taylor Jacobs and Carlos Perez.
  • If Mitchell doesn't start this week against UAB, the starting OL will be Max Starks (LT), Shannon Snell (LG), Mike DeGory (C), David Jorgensen (RB) and Jonathan Colon (RT).  Lance Butler is working at both guard spots as a backup.
  • Mike Nattiel worked with the 1st team defense and his hamstring is feeling better.
  • Matt Farrior ran with the #1 team as the MLB.
  • Gavin Dickey/ Patrick Dosh were working with the scout team.
  • Ciatrick Fason, Reggie Lewis, and the McCollum twins were all working with the varsity and not the scout team.
  • No word yet on Dallas Baker.
