Gators Get Deonte

Florida is quickly picking up one of the top classes in a long time, and the Gators added another five star commitment today as Deonte Thompson, a wide receiver from Glades Central in Belle Glade, Fla., chose the Gators.

"In the end it came down to Miami, Florida, USC, and the University of Florida," Thompson said at his school's press conference today. "Some people aren't going to agree with this decision, but this is about me and my family, and with that I am going to the University of Florida."

Family turned out to be the most important ingrident for Thompson, whose mother came up to the stage after the announcement with a Florida Gator hat and a big hug for her son. Thompson said his coach also had some of an impact on the decision.

"I'm going to get a chance to play where my coach played and do what he did back in the day."

Thompson, a U.S. Army All-American, chose the Gators over finalists Miami, Florida State, and USC. He is the tenth five star prospect to sign with the Gators this year, and just continued to solidify its spot at the top of the recruiting rankings.
