Coach Ron Zook:
On the game: "What I told our football team is this - 'You know that's a good football team there.' The thing that makes me feel good is obviously we have a lot of work to do. I think our players have done everything we've asked them to do since I've been here and they will continue to do the things that we ask them to do. When you play a good football team like this you can't make some of the mistakes that we made. I feel very confident about our football team and I know we will respond and come back and be ready to go.
On Miami: "Miami is a great football team. Both of their offensive and defensive fronts are good and they did a great job. They ran the ball much better than I thought that they would. Tonight they were the better team. You can not make the mistakes that we made and get away with it."
On Miami's running game: "That is probably the one thing that surprises me the most about Miami, that they ran the football the way that they did, I think that's a tribute to them. They did an excellent job of running the football and cutting back. We were over pursuing them a little bit too much, and when you play a team like them you have to be able to play on the line of scrimmage."
On the receivers: "They were playing a lot of two man and our receivers didn't do as well of a job getting off of people. Taylor did, but we didn't have a lot of time. We were trying to throw routes that did not take much time."
On Miami's defensive line: "Their defensive line is one of the best defensive fronts in the country and they proved it tonight."
On the special teams: "Kickoff coverage was very good, we are making some progress there. We have to address the kicking situation. We have plenty of people there. I still haven't lost confidence in them."
On his first loss: "In this position its going to happen sooner or later, mine just happened sooner. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise. Our football team is going to get better. The great thing about this is that it's early in the year and we have a lot of football to play. We told the football team this week that this is a big game but it's not going to make or break the season. People are going to judge me and that's fine, but there is a lot of football left to play. I am encouraged because of the attitude of our football players. I know we have guys who are winners, and we've got guys who are going to bounce back."
On Grossman's performance: "Rex is a winner and a player. This may be a blessing in disguise for him. Rex will come back here ready to go. He is a winner and a competitor and we all know that he can play. He threw some balls tonight that I had never seen him throw before."
Florida Player Post Game Quotes:
Offensive Guard Shannon Snell
On the loss: "The loss hurts right now, but hats off to Miami, they were the better team and they deserved to win."
On the Offensive Line's Performance: "After we settled down and got into our rhythm, we did okay; we ran the ball efficiently and held them off Rex. They got a little pressure here and there, which was expected, but overall I didn't think we did too bad."
Strong Safety Todd Johnson
On his performance: "I didn't play all that well, I missed some tackles. The whole team realizes that it is a long season and we aren't out of this thing yet. We just have to take it game-by-game, smooth some things out, and move on with week three."
On Miami: "Tonight they are the better team. We feel like we can play with them and beat them, but obviously tonight they made bigger plays and showed that they are the better team -- they played great. We knew it was going to be a tough game."
On the rivalry: "I think we were in the game most of the time and the score makes it look worse than it was. They (Miami) were nervous and they know we can play with them and beat them."
Running Back Earnest Graham
On the game: "We are a team with a lot of new guys playing on the field and we will definitely go back and look what went wrong and if we have to make some changes, we'll make the changes. It's real early in the season and we'll need some guys to step up."
On Miami: "Like Miami, we need to take control during crucial times and that's what they did. We have to learn from the quality of a championship team. They (Miami) got a lot of pressure on Rex and capitalized on a lot of our mistakes. We have to learn from that tonight and hopefully it will help us during the season."
Coach Larry Coker:
On the game: "It was a very big win for the team and the football program. I am very proud of them since it was such a tough environment to play in. To put it all into perspective, we are 2-0. We have a lot of football left to play and we have a big challenge ahead for the rest of the season. I would like to commend our crowd. We had a great group of die-hard fans follow us all the way up here tonight."
On the Gator's performance: "They (Florida) have excellent players. They played extremely hard, as our team did. They had some breaks and made some breaks. I was pleased with their effort and ours. They ran the ball well and made some nice plays. They were patient and I think they did an awfully good job. They are a tough team with very tough players."
On the performance of Grossman: "We wanted to put a great deal of pressure on Grossman tonight, moving him around a lot. We knew if we didn't, we would be in for a long day. We have talent and depth in the defensive front and we wanted to keep sending guys in to use that depth. We knew if we could not create a mismatch in player depth of our guys and theirs, we would be in for a tough game."
On the interceptions: "All of the interceptions throughout the game were huge. I guess you could call it a push, I mean we got one for a touchdown and they got one. They (Florida) are not an option team. They can score a lot and always in a hurry. You never feel like the game is over. They just don't give up."
Miami Player Post Game Quotes:
Quarterback Ken Dorsey
On the Hurricanes: "We have grown up a lot from last year. The fact that we did throw a few interceptions and yet put that many points on the board shows where we have been from the Boston College game last year's miracle save to now. "
On his play: "I think I played well enough to win."
On the atmosphere: "Any time you come into a staduim like this against a team like this, they are going to be very energized and ready to play. It is going to be tough to do exactly what you want to do. We were able to sustain that."
On the Hurricane defense: "I think our defense didn't let them run away with it. They took an early lead and we were composed and able to play through it."
Defensive Tackle Vince Wilfork
On the Gators: "They gave up in the third quarter. If you give up on us before 60 minutes are up, I don't care what the score is, we are going to come after you. We played until 60 minutes were over."
On the Gators offensive line: "They have a great offensive line. They tried to mismatch and put different people in different positions. They came out to play hard, but it got to a point that if you keep seeing fresh legs and the 300 pound dogs coming in on you, failure is going to go through your mind."
Center Brett Romberg
On the game: "I think it is a wake up call to everyone else that we are here to stay. We have always known that we have been here and nobody is giving us any respect. I think it opens up a lot of peoples eyes that we didn't fall off."
Running Back Willis McGahee
On his performance: "I feel really good about myself tonight. I had a lot of confidence coming into the game. I kept working hard all week and I knew everything would come together."
On the the season: "I wasn't really into it last year like I am this year. I knew I had to get better than what I did last year. The team was counting on me."
On getting 200 yards: "I thought I might get 100. If 200 came I was going to take it."
Offensive Lineman Sherko Haji-Rasouli
On McGahee's performance: "He won the game for us tonight. In the beginning it was a little hard for us to get going at first. We struggled with our running game a bit. He kept pounding away and giving so much effort. He made runs that were supposed to be two yard losses into four yard gains. That is what gave us confidence."
