SPRING: Five Questions w/Eric Rutledge

One of the under the radar type players in next year offense will be senior fullback Eric Rutledge. He is alright with that, too. One of the things that makes him such a good football player is his love for doing the little things that make good teams great. After practice, Rutledge spent some time talking about his role on the team, as well as his love for the game of football.

Q: "How do you think you've been playing so far?"

A: "I think this is personally the best spring I've had here at Florida. I'm trying to focus in on the smaller details and trying to do the little stuff right."

Q: "What are your thoughts on possibly starting at the fullback position?"

A: "I'm really excited. It's a great opportunity for me that I've been working hard for all my time here. It's a hard job, but as a senior the coaches are expecting me to come in and step my game up."

Q: "Taking over a Billy Latsko role in the offense, do you know the blocking schemes and your role in this offense?"

A: "Yes I do. I'm fine with it. It's my third year in this offense. Scheme-wise I'm good, it just comes with comfort and repetition."

Q: "Do you feel like it's your time to step up as a starting senior for this offense?"

A: "Definitely. We're so young, I think like 42% of our team hasn't played on the field before, so being an older guy causes me to step up. I know the program and what is expected, and that is leadership in itself."

Q: "How much do you take pride in your blocking abilities and doing the small things for this offense?"

A: "That's my job and I love doing it. Some people think it's the dirty work, but I do take pride in it. It comes out of your love for the game and it's about getting excited to play this game. You can't take being out here for granted."
