Eric Smith Returns from Gainesville

Eric Smith, from Seffner-Armwood, (Fla.), is loving life the day after visiting Gainesville for the Orange and Blue game. He talked with about his unofficial visit.

"I'm doing good. I'm blessed," Eric Smith said.

Asked about his visit to the national champs' dress rehearsal for the 2007 season Smith responded, "Yes it was good. It was excellent. They were already at the top of the list, but they definitely have gone up a lot more."

"I liked talking to coach [Stan] Drayton a little more. Getting to know him a little bit more, talking to the players."

"Yes ma'am I could," Smith responded when asked if he could see himself at the Swamp. "They have a lot of running backs that are out right now, so coach Drayton was telling me the game plan. I think I could fit into it."

Don't look for an answer in the near future as Smith stated of his decision, "I'm probably going to hold off 'til signing day."

Smith and his Hawks will begin spring practice later this month as the senior prepares for his last year of high school football.

"Yes, most definitely looking forward to it," Smith said. "We're going to play Newsome (7-3) in our spring game."
